1) The 1st thing to do is to make a list with different ideas of what you want your house to look like. Browse through magazines, check the internet or even get ideas from your friends. You must also consider your own style and the style of those who will share the space. You might want something different from your partner, negotiate and define the characteristic that will make everyone happy such as color and style.

2) Once you have a basic idea of what you want you must start your research. Go back to the magazines that you browsed, the websites that you visited and make a list (this would now be a second list) of items that you will need to achieve the look. Think of the items that you already have and that could be reused instead of buying something new or items that can be modified to get a certain look. 

3) The paint color that will be used for the walls is very important since it will be the base for your redecoration. To choose the color of the walls make sure to check the list of items that also take into consideration the furniture that will be used in that room. The accents of the furniture could be the main color of your walls and you can mix and match to see how you can coordinate the colors. Again, if you need some help and ideas check your magazines or websites to give you color ideas. Sometimes you can get good color ideas from color palettes that you can get for free at hardwood stores or wherever you buy your paint.

4) Once the walls are done you will have to put your furniture pieces back. Make sure you don’t waste space but don’t make the room look small either. The best way is to place your big pieces of furniture first the way you want them and then move the small ones as you go along. The small ones are easier for you to move and will not hurt your back!

5) Once you are satisfied with how the furniture looks it will be time to finish the look with the accents/ accessories. Follow the list and make changes as you go after all it will be your own design! To give a spring touch to your revamp add some plants and flowers in decorative vases, this always provides a fresh and cozy feeling to a room. Painting and frames also help pinpointing a specific style.

Being able to redecorate a room with a style that you like does not have to be difficult. Take your time and have fun doing looking for the style that you want to recreate!
